  1. WELCOME TO CARLSBAD EYE CARE Your Source for Comprehensive Eye Care in San Diego

  2. Dry Eyes What is Dry Eye Syndrome? Dry Eyes result when people don’t produce the right quality or amount of tears to keep their eyes comfortable and healthy. Normally the eye is constantly bathed in tears. The eye stays comfortable and moist, and produces tears when necessary. People with Dry Eye Syndrome do not produce enough good quality tears. Causes of Dry Eyes There are many causes of dry eyes, including Aqueous Tear Deficiency (ATD) and Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD).

  3. LASIK About LASIK Eye Surgery LASIK (or “Laser Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis”), is one of the safest and most effective vision correction procedures. The first LASIK cases were performed in the US in 1989 and now an average of 700,000 cases are performed annually. LASIK is an outpatient refractive procedure that is used to treat nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and presbyopia.

  4. Cataracts What are Cataracts? Cataracts result from clouding and darkening of the lens inside the eye, causing cloudy and blurry vision. Cataracts can appear in people in their 40s and 50s, but usually at that point, the cataracts are small and don’t interfere too much with their lifestyle.  Most people who have cataract surgery are in their 60s, 70s, or older. What are the symptoms of cataracts? Blurry or foggy vision, colors appearing faded, poor night vision, halos appearing around lights, and sensitivity to bright lights can all be symptoms of a cataract.

  5. Astigmatism What is Astigmatism? Astigmatism is a non-spherical curvature in the shape of the cornea.  Typically, the cornea should be smooth and curved equally.  This helps the eye to focus light and see images clearly.  However, if the cornea is not spherical, light rays are not refracted correctly and vision can be impaired, causing blurriness and visual distortion. Both near and far vision can be impaired. Other astigmatism symptoms can include: 1. Blurred or distorted vision 2. Headaches due to eye strain 3. Squinting of the eyes to try to see more clearly

  6. Blepharitis What is Blepharitis? Blepharitis is a chronic condition in which eyelids become swollen and inflamed. It is a common condition that causes excess oil and bacteria to accumulate on the eyelash follicles on the eyelid. It can cause irritation, itchiness, burning, redness, and stinging. Blepharitis can also be associated with dry eyes, seborrheic dermatitis, or rosacea. Symptoms of Blepharitis There are multiple symptoms of blepharitis, ranging from mild to severe. If you have three or more symptoms on this list that do not go away after a couple days, call Dr. Tracy to make an appointment or book your appointment online. * Watery eyes * Red eyes * A gritty, burning sensation in the eye * Eyelids that appear greasy
