  1. Welcome to Dr. Barber’s Room

  2. Rules • 1. Follow directions the first time. • 2. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself. • 3. Raise your hand and wait to be called on before talking. • 4. No fighting, teasing, or name calling. • 5. Come to class prepared (paper, sharpened pencils, and completed homework).

  3. Consequences • 1st time – clip down “Think about it” • Warning • 2nd time – clip down to “Teacher’s Choice” • Sign “The Book” • 5 minutes time out or • Lunch alone • Email to parent • 3rd time – clip down • Sign “The Book” • Out of the group • Note home to parent

  4. Grading policies • In all Subjects • Subtract 1point for punctuation • Subtract 2 points for no name • Subtract 10 points if not turned the day the assignment was due. • After 5 days late, grade is a zero. • No points subtracted, but clip down if not turned into box by 8 AM.

  5. Take Home Folder • Your child will have one folder designated for taking home important information. • One side will be labeled, “Please keep.” • One side will be labeled, “Send back.” • It is your child’s responsibility to give this folder to you when necessary.

  6. Homework Folder • Your child will also have one folder designated as a homework folder. • One side will be labeled “Not Done.” • The other side will be “Done.” • All work should be kept in the folder when your student is not working on it. • All completed homework is due the next morning by 8AM. • Lost workbook pages will not be replaced.

  7. Additional Grading Issues • Most subjects • Homework • Classwork • Tests/Quizzes • Participation • Grades circled in red are averaged toward report card grades

  8. Teacher’s Expectations for Parents • Support from home of the classroom rules and consequences • Contact me first if there is a problem or concern • Including personal/family problems that may affect your child’s performance at school • Make sure help is available at home for your child if he/she needs help

  9. Take Home Binders • Wednesday nights • Contents: • All corrected papers from present 9 weeks • Review graded papers with your child, leave papers in binder, sign the parent sheet, and return binder to school • Contact karen.barber @ sumnerschools.org if you have concerns.

  10. Agenda • Please check your child’s agenda every night. • It is the student’s responsibility to copy homework and upcoming tests every day from the board.

  11. Homework Routine • Homework will usually be started during class • Set aside time every night • No distractions • Encourage good study habits
