  1. [Issues Fixed] AirDrop Is Not Working on Mac Many users transfer files between iOS devices by AirDrop. It saves us a lot of trouble. But recently we have got some complaining about Airdrop not working issue on Mac. So here we have a few solutions to fix the problem and bring back to you the convenience of AirDrop. Part 1 Three Ways to AirDrop Files on Mac  AirDrop Files Using Drag and Drop The most straigtforward way to share the files on your Mac is by drag and drop the files. On Mac, go to "Finder" and locate the files you need. Choose the files and drag them to "AirDrop" on the left column. Keep holding until the AirDrop window appears. From the contacts listed, drop the files to the one you want to share files with.  AirDrop Files Using Share Button You may use "Share" button to AirDrop the target files. Find the target files on "Finder". Select the files and click "Share" button on the top. From the drop-down list, choose "AirDrop". In the pop-up window, choose a contact, and the files will be sent to the contacts.

  2. AirDrop Files Using the Context Menu Also, you can choose to share files with other iOS devices via AirDrop from the context menu. Open "Finder" and locate the files that you want to share. Control/right click on the files to open the context menu. From the menu, choose "Share" > "AirDrop" to send the files. Part 2 Five Solutions to Fix AirDrop Not Working on Ma Some users find they can't share files using AirDrop on Mac. Follow the below solutions to fix the problem.

  3. Solution 1. Check If AirDrop is Available AirDrop is not available for the older iOS devices. So before you go further, please make sure that both devices (the sender and receiver) are compatible to transfer files via AirDrop, that is Mac running on OS X Yosemite and above as well as iDevice running on iOS 7 and above, including: iPhone 5 or later iPad Pro iPad (4th generation) or later iPad mini or later iPod touch (5th generation) or later MacBook Pro (Late 2008) or later, excluding the MacBook Pro (17-inch, Late 2008) MacBook Air (Late 2010) or later MacBook (Late 2008) or later, excluding the white MacBook (Late 2008) iMac (Early 2009) or later Mac Mini (Mid 2010) or later Mac Pro (Early 2009 with AirPort Extreme card, or Mid 2010)  Solution 2. Check If the Network is Connected AirDrop needs Wi-Fi and bluetooth to send and receive files. So make sure both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth is enabled on your Mac. And if the network connection is bad right now on your area, try to toggle Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on and off, or try AirDrop the files later for better netwok connection.  Solution 3. Choose Everyone to Share Content with You might have neglected the option on AirDrop window, which let you choose share content with "Contacts only" (only receive files from those in your Contacts app) or "Anyone". So go to "Finder" > "AirDrop", on the bottom you'll find "Allow me to be discovered by". If it is "Contacts only" , select "Anyone" instead.

  4. Solution 4. Turn Off "Block all incoming communications" on Firewall If you have turned on "Block all incoming communications" option on Firewall, you are unable to share contents via AirDrop. So turn the option off. Go to "System Preferences" > "Security & Privacy" > "Firewall" > "Firewall Options". Then uncheck "Block all incoming communications" option.  Solution 5. Use FonePaw iOS Transfer for Data Transfer FonePaw iOS Transfer is designed for data transfer between iOS devices, including Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod running from iOS 6 ~ iOS 10. Comparing with AirDrop, the program can:

  5. Work without network connected; Support more iOS device models; make it easier to transfer data in bulk. Therefore, for devices not supporting AirDrop or with AirDrop not working, try FonePaw iOS Transfer. All you need to do is to download the program on your Mac or PC, connect your device to Mac or PC, choose the files you need to transfer, and then transfer the files in one click and within minutes.
