  2. What is long term care? • Long term care is a type of custodial care that provides assistance in performing activities of daily living for people who are incapable of performing them on their own.

  3. Activities of Daily Living • ADLs include bathing, dressing, eating, ambulating, transferring, toileting and continence • Long Term Care is not covered by Medicare and health insurance plans.

  4. Long term care options • Home Care -receive care in the comforts of your own home; have a family care-giver; can be provided by an in-home service provider • Community-based Care - adult day care centers and other care services provided by LTC associations and LTC advocates; usually on temporary basis
