  2. Why the H.E.L.P.E.R? • Mark Moses (Father) was diagnosed with SLE in 1988. • Life has become increasingly difficult due to sore joints and extreme fatigue. • Lack to move without pain.

  3. Systemic Lupus Erythematosus • Known as SLE. • Auto-immune disorder. • 1.5 Million Americans are diagnosed with SLE. • Appears mostly in people between ages 15 and 44. • 90% of patients are women. • Common symptoms are joint pain and swelling.

  4. Typical Grabbers • Sizes from 32” to 36” on average. • Squeeze handle to close teeth and grab object. • Usually made out of lightweight aluminum. • Requirements strong grip to hold object in the grabbers teeth. • Inadequate (small) grip surface. • Poor leverage when lifting objects.

  5. H.E.L.P.E.R. • Telescopic rod that extends roughly 5 feet. • Brace for wrist when grabbing heavy objects. • Lock for handle to keep teeth clamped on object. • Heavy duty plastic (PVC)

  6. Materials and Costs • PVC ¾” x 10’ $2.59 • Sanding down 15 minutes. • PVC 1” x 10’ $2.98 • Sanding down 15 minutes.

  7. Learning Stretch • Always work on something even if your waiting on parts. • Time management is HUGE! • Do not procrastinate. In fact it is the worst thing you can do. • Simple living aids can tremendously help ill and disabled Americans. • Improved my writing and problem solving skills.
