Advanced computing is fashionable (GRID) (but heard more about project management than technical studies…) Rigorous approach to sw engineering is not [yet?] (where was software process? architectural design?) Quite a lot of bricolage in the experiments How many beers did Anafhpay to Lassi and Lucas? CHEP01 partial, biased personal impressions Quiet… Not many questions Some useful side discussions Not many [new] ideas Few talks with some impact Some common trends, few common solutions & tools Leading (?) role of a small core group at/around CERN Not much from other labs (except GRID)… Came out pretty well Various relevant people were not there Various “inactive” people were there These were often highly critical about the conference and the current trends in software: still the real HEP community? The ROOTs of several experiments have evolved since last CHEP… [but hardly any in depth analysis of the evolution]
