The Aztecs. When the Aztecs came. Around 1300 CE, a wandering tribe of Indians wandered into the Valley of Mexico. These people were called the Aztecs.

  2. When the Aztecs came Around 1300 CE, a wandering tribe of Indians wandered into the Valley of Mexico. These people were called the Aztecs.  When the Aztecs arrived in the Valley of Mexico, other tribes were already in residence. They had already taken the best land. The Aztecs had to make due with the swampy shores of Lake Texcoco. 

  3. Temple • The temples ranged from three stories (about 30 feet) to twenty stories (200 feet).   4. Food • Without animals like cows, sheep and goats, the Mexica (Aztec) diet was mainly veg, fruit and grains. Top of the list was maize[corn], an ancient and sacred crop that can grow almost anywhere. The early cultivation of maize by settled farmers thousands of years ago allowed all great Mesoamerican civilisations to flourish... 

  5. Weapons • Mexica (‘Aztec’) weapons were simple, but really effective, and were of two basic types: close-up weapons for hand-to-hand fighting, and long-range weapons for attacking from a distance...
