  2. Retouch • Is to enhance the quality of the image. • How? Many ways to do, depending on our motives.

  3. Retouch • Motive 1: To adjust directly the image on its tone, contrast, color balance, color cast, brightness, hue, saturation, color, etc….(make sure you know the meaning of these concepts, if not, try to read more from photoshop help.) image>adjust> (there are many choices for adjustment) View this movie (adjustment of image shadow)

  4. Retouch • Motive 2: To add adjustment layers for various types of adjustment such as Level, brightness/contrast, hue/saturation, fill with gradient or solid color etc… Layer>new adjustment layer > (there are many choices for adjustment) Layer>new fill layer > gradient • Adjustment layer will be created or can be deleted, no direct edition on the image. Therefore we can always get back the original image.

  5. Retouch • Motive 3: To retouch directly on certain part of the image by using tools, in order to change its saturation or lightness/shadow. • SPONGE tool+ its option • DODGE tool + its option • BURN tool + its option View movie on dodge and burn tools

  6. Retouch • Motive 4: To remove unwanted object. • Use CLONE STAMP tool. • Press Alt on the area you want to copy/clone, and rub the mouse pointer on your targeted location. View movie on the clone stamp tool.

  7. Retouch • Motive 5: Replacing part of an image with other image. • Copy the new image • Select the unwanted image Edit>Paste Into

  8. Retouch • Motive 6: Sharpen the image (or blur or other effects) by using FILTER. • E.g. Filter> Sharpen > Unsharp mask • Look into the different type of filters.
