  11. Team manager • The Team Manager is responsible for coordinating match day activities • Set the scoring and refreshments roster for team parents (see our website for a roster template) • Provide weekly reminder emails to team for match location details and roster duties • TIP: Ask team parents at the start of the season to be responsible for organising a fill-in if they are going to be away on a day they are rostered to score or provide refreshment. • On match day the Team Manager has a variety of roles • Assist with ground set-up at home games – placement of markers, wickets etc. • Managing team when batting • Ensure kids are padding up • Encourage those not batting to support their team mates • Post match day, the Team Manager is responsible for uploading scores to My Cricket • Each Team Coach and Manager will be provided a log-in and details of score submission deadlines • Submission deadlines are monitored by the League and we are fined $10 per late score

  12. Scoring • Scoring should be shared amongst a team’s parents on a rostered basis • It can seem a little daunting for the uninitiated, but once learned it’s a great to be involved • Tips on how to score can be found on our website home page

  13. Rules All matches are to be played according to the rules of cricket – these can be found on our website The following modified rules apply for matches in the Southern District Churches League. It is recommended that these are discussed and agreed with the opposition coach prior to the match commencing. Team size greater than 11 • Teams may have more than 11 players • When fielding • Only 11 players, including the keeper and bowler are allowed on the field • Rotation of players on and off the field can only occur at the end of an over • When batting • Teams may rotate their players using the max overs/max runs approach • More than 11 players can bat, but only until 10 wickets have fallen • Once ten wickets have been taken, the innings is officially over. • The two teams can agree that play is to continue after 10 wickets have been taken, but scoring is not to be recorded Leg Before Wicket (LBW) • LBW is NOT applicable to Under 11 matches • LBW is applied in Under 13 and Under 15 matches

  14. Rules cont. Pitch Length (Under 11) • Under 11 matches are to be played on shortened pitches • All bowling is to occur from one end of the ground – there is NO rotation of ends at the end of each over • Pitch set-up • At the batsmen’s end, the stumps are placed in the normal position • At the bowlers end, the stumps are placed on the popping crease (where the batsmen would normally stand) and a new popping crease is marked with chalk or tape (1.22m) No-Balls – balls bouncing twice, or off the pitch • A ball will be declared a no ball if the ball: • Bounces in the first half of the pitch (from bowlers end), irrespective of whether it bounces again or not • Bounces off the pitch on the first or any subsequent bounce • Rolls along the pitch before the popping crease (i.e. the crease on which the batsmen stands) • Bounces MORE than twice BEFORE the popping crease (i.e. the crease on which the batsmen stands) • A ball is NOT a no-ball if it bounces twice, provided that • the first bounce of the ball occurs in the batsman’s half of the wicket • the second bounce occurs on the pitch
