  3. Nord-Odal • 5000 inhabitants • 100 km North of Oslo • 508 km • 3 schools; 2 Primary schools (6-13) and 1 lower sec (13-16)

  4. Mo kirke • There are two churches in Nord-Odal, one in each part of the local council.

  5. Sand kirke • This is the church in the western part of «our place on earth»..

  6. Sand • This is our «city hall», just a part of it, and the church in Sand behind it. • This is the office of the leader of the school authorities in Nord-Odal

  7. The Schools • There are two schools in the same place – Mo in Nord-Odal. • Garvik skole -primary • Nord-Odal ungdomsskole -lower sec. • Sand sentralskole -primary- is situated in Sand,10 km west of those two schools.

  8. Garvik skole • 192 pupils, 6-13 years old • 10 classes • 17 teachers, some of them parttime-workers • The teachers are organized in two teams

  10. Garvik skole and Nord-Odal ungdomsskole • The primary school, Garvik skole, and lower sec. School, Nord-Odal ungdomsskole, are situated on the same ground, but are separate units.

  13. Special themes focused this year at Garvik skole • The «learning styles-methods» of Rita and Kenneth Dunn combined with Mathematics • ICT implemented in the classrooms and in the pupils' work • Assessment • Activity and nutrition • Internationalizing by Comenius-project

Cultural heritage – Cultural schoolbag • The school authorities in Norway has decided to give the pupils a Cultural Schoolbag. • There is money given to each county, they give them to the local councils. • Every local council must have a plan for how to pass the local cultural heritage to the children within the economic resources granted for this. • Our plan implicate for examples museumvisits, local arts and crafts and meetings with local artists ..

  15. ICT in our schools in Nord-Odal • Every classroom has at least 4 computers connected to the Internet. • All the teachers have their own portable computer. • There is broadband-connection in all the three schools. • The Linux system and Open Office software is chosen.
