  7. Force: force is pushing or pulling on an object in order to produce motion.

  8. Push: To move something away from you by using force

  9. Pull: To move something towards you using force

  10. Gravity: the force that keeps things from flying off into space.

  11. Inertia: objects will not move unless force makes it move

  12. The toy car will not move unless the boy pushes it. It is in a state of Inertia.

  13. Speed: Move faster

  14. Motion: Movement

  15. Friction: a force that opposes the motion of any object moving on it.

  16. Now let’s talk about positional words

  17. In your science notebook draw a square in the middle of the page.

  18. Let’s put the new positional words around our square.

  35. Today we were introduced to the concept of force of motion. We learned the definitions to many words that will help us with this unit.

  36. We also learned many positional words which will help us as scientists when describing observations.

  37. In our next lesson we will learn about pushes and pulls.
