STATUS QUO • The Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA) mandated the Department of Science and Technology (DST) to lead technology development and transfer in SA under UNFCCC • South Africa participates in the CTCN Advisory Board Meetings as observers through the Department of Science and Technology (DST) • DST nominated as NDE in January 2014

FUTURE PLANNING • Currently setting up the structure of NDE • Additional Budget Allocated • Get commitment from identified key government departments, private sector and other institutions • Establish Steering Committee/Advisory Council • Terms of Reference developed and informed by the functions of the NDE

  10. FUTURE PLANNING cont. • Identify Network Organisations • Three national workshop, engage with relevant stakeholders • Develop guidelines on interpretation and evaluation of submissions • Integrate climate change related legislation and programmes • Two calls per annum for proposals envisaged
