  2. Book Talk Task • You are about to prepare a Book Talk for the class based on a novel that you have most recently finished. The novel is to be a fictional chapter book at your reading level. • Be creative. Imagine you are a sales person selling this book. You want the audience to purchase it and enjoy it.

  3. Book Talk Assessment • You will be assessed on your public speaking skills as well as your knowledge of the book.

  4. Information in the Book Talk • The following information must be present in your Book Talk: • Characters: Who are the main and supporting characters in the book? • Setting: Where and when does the book take place? • Problem: What makes the story? What is the problem of the story? • Recommendations: What type of reader is this book recommended to? • Symbolic Item: Bring in an item that is symbolic to the story. • (The solution must not be stated as this would give the idea away).

  5. Presentation Assessment • You will be assessed on the following performance during your presentation: • Speaking: Do I have clear pronunciation? • Body Language: Am I standing tall and upright with my face visible? • Eye Contact: Do I give eye contact to the audience from time to time? • Volume: Is my speaking clear and heard by the entire class?

  6. Total Assessment /10 Presentation: /4 Speaking: Body Language: Eye Contact: Volume: Information: /6 Characters: Setting: Problem: Recommendations: Symbolic Item: The presentation must not exceed 3 minutes!
