Alcohol Myths vs. Facts Myths Facts • Drinking coffee will sober you up • Eating breath mints will fool the police/breath test • Beer has less alcohol then liquor or wine • Taking a cold shower will sober you up • Physical activity will sober you up • Only time will sober you up • False! The breath test can not be fooled • 12 oz. Beer, 4 oz. Wine & 1.5 oz. Liquor all have the same alcohol content • It may make you feel more awake, but has no effect on how fast you sober up • Only time will sober you up

Life Changing Effects of Alcohol • Brain Damage (Wernicke-Korsakoff Syndrome) • High Blood Pressure, Stroke, & Heart Disease • Sexual Impotence and Reduced Fertility • Increasing Risk of Breast Cancer • Liver Disease (fatty liver, hepatitis, cirrhosis and cancer) • Sleeping Difficulties • Malnutrition • Incarceration • Death!
