  2. Overview of Territory All things United States Government worldwide to include State and Local Governments Government is typically behind the commercial sector. For example, clustering has gained significant traction in the last year. The Government is typically very slow to update to new software and operating system releases. Many agencies within government are still running Exchange 5.5 and Solaris 2.8 and don’t anticipate changing for another year.

  3. Strengths What about VCS/VVR/GCM do you feel are strengths in your territory? Identify what has contributed to their success. Site failover is a common requirement for Government customers. CFS and RAC are a big hit with DBA’s. Flexible agent support wins many deals. Heterogeneous support Ease of use, It works!! Total solution from one supplier Name recognition and product reputation

Weaknesses Please describe the weaknesses in your region for selling and supporting VCS/VVR/GCM —Identify issues that prevent you from selling these products or cause customer dissatisfaction Price – Hardware vendors tend to give the software away for the hardware deal Agent support for latest versions of software (ie. Oracle AS, Oracle 10g) Engineering/Support notification of bugs/misfeatures is non-existent.

  5. Opportunities Please describe the opportunities within your territory to increase revenue for VCS/VVR/GCM Solution bundles – 2 node VCS with an agent for a single price NAS Support iSCSI Hardware vendor on VERITAS side

  6. Threats Please describe the Threats in your region – trends that may adversely affect sales of VCS/VVR/GCM EMC,EMC,EMC NSI Doubletake

  7. Wins Please profile 3 recent WINS for VCS/VVR/GCM in your territory – Who was the competition? Why did we win? USPS win over Sun Cluster and Microsoft Cluster Server. Sun Cluster: We had better manageability, performance, documentation MSCS: Couldn’t GeoCluster NGA St. Louis Sun Cluster: Sun themselves suggested VCS to cluster QFS PENREN LAAM never worked.

  8. Losses Please profile 3 recent LOSSES for [Product Area] in your territory – Who won the business? Why? NGA Reston SFW 4.1 was too late to market.

Top 10 Please list, in priority order, the top 10 enhancements to VCS/VVR/GCO that you would like to see over the next 12-18 months, and why: Concurrent release of new versions of VCS/VVR/GCO with new operating systems. Concurrent release of new VCS agents with new software releases. Better marketing documentation for VCS ISV Agents Integrated wizard for VCS/VVR/GCO site failover. Change GUI to better inform users of open VCS configuration. Clustered Filesystem that does not require 2 Nics for clients.
