Add year to year; Let feasts come around. 2 Yet I will distress Ariel; There shall be heaviness and sorrow, And it shall be to Me as Ariel. WHAT IS ARIEL? THE LION OF THE TRIBE OF JUDAH? READ: GENESIS 49:9-10 9 Judah is a lion's whelp; From the prey, my son, you have gone up. He bows down, he lies down as a lion. And as a lion, who shall rouse him? 10 The scepter shall not depart from Judah Nor a lawgiver from between his feet Until Shiloh comes. And to Him shall be the obedience of the people. NKJV

Add year to year; Let feasts come around. 2 Yet I will distress Ariel; There shall be heaviness and sorrow, And it shall be to Me as Ariel. WHAT IS ARIEL? JERUSALEM? CITY OF DAVID? READ: 2 SAMUEL 5:6-7 6 The king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spoke to David, saying, You shall not come in here. The blind and the lame will repel you, Thinking, David cannot come in here. 7 Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion (that is, the City of David). NKJV READ: 1 CHRONICLES 11:4-6 4 David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus, where the Jebusites were, the inhabitants of the land. 5 The inhabitants of Jebus said to David, You shall not come in here! READ: LAMENTATIONS 2:1-5 1 The Lord has covered the daughter of Zion With a cloud in His anger! He cast down from heaven to the earth The beauty of Israel, And did not remember His footstool In the day of His anger. 2 The Lord has swallowed up and has not pitied All the dwelling places of Jacob. He has thrown down in His wrath The strongholds of the daughter of Judah. He has brought them down to the ground. He has profaned the kingdom and its princes. 3 He has cut off in fierce anger Every horn of Israel. He has drawn back His right hand From before the enemy. He has blazed against Jacob like a flaming fire Devouring all around. 4 Standing like an enemy, He has bent His bow. With His right hand, like an adversary, He has slain all who were pleasing to His eye. On the tent of the daughter of Zion, He has poured out His fury like fire. 5 The Lord was like an enemy. He has swallowed up Israel. He has swallowed up all her palaces. He has destroyed her strongholds And has increased mourning and lamentation In the daughter of Judah. NKJV

The city shall be taken, The houses rifled, And the women ravished. Half of the city shall go into captivity, But the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city. NKJV

WHO DID THE LORD BRING AGAINST JERUSALEM? NEBUCHADNEZZAR KING OF BABYLON? WHAT IS A SEIGE? WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE SEIGE? HOW LONG WILL THEY ENCAMP AGAINST THEM? READ: 2 KINGS 25:1-3 1 In the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army came against Jerusalem and encamped against it. They built a siege wall against it all around. 2 The city was besieged until the eleventh year of King Zedekiah. 3 By the ninth day of the fourth month the famine had become so severe in the city that there was no food for the people of the land. NKJV

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO JERUSALEM? BROUGHT DOWN TO THE GROUND? LIKE DUST? READ: ISAIAH 47:1 1 Come down and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon. Sit on the ground without a throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans! For you shall no more be called Tender and delicate. WILL THE LORD RAISE HER UP FROM THE DUST? WHY? READ: ISAIAH 52:1-2 1 Awake, awake! Put on your strength, O Zion. Put on your beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city! For the uncircumcised and the unclean Shall no longer come to you. 2 Shake yourself from the dust, arise. Sit down, O Jerusalem! Loose yourself from the bonds of your neck, O captive daughter of Zion! NKJV

READ: ISAIAH 8:19 19 When they say to you, Seek those who are mediums and wizards, who whisper and mutter, Should not a people seek their God? Should they seek the dead on behalf of the living? NKJV

READ: JOB 21:18 18 They are like straw before the wind And like chaff that a storm carries away. NKJV READ: PSALMS 1:4 4 The ungodly are not so But are like the chaff which the wind drives away. NKJV READ: PSALMS 35:5 5 Let them be like chaff before the wind And let the angel of the LORD chase them. NKJV

WHO ARE THEIR FOES? SENNACHERIB? NEBUCHADNESSAR? WHY DESCRIBE THEM AS DUST & CHAFF? WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THEM? READ: PSALMS 55:15 15 Let death seize them. Let them go down alive into hell, For wickedness is in their dwellings and among them. NKJV READ: 1 THESSALONIANS 5:2-4 3 They say, “Peace and safety!” Then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. NKJV

HOW WILL THE LORD PUNISH THEM? THUNDER? EARTHQUAKE? STORMS? TEMPESTS? FLAME OF DEVOURING FIRE? HOW DID THE LORD MANIFEST HIS PRESENCE? WHAT HAPPENED ON MOUNT SINAI? READ: EXODUS 19:16-18 16 It came to pass on the third day, in the morning, that there were thunderings and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the mountain. The sound of the trumpet was very loud. All the people who were in the camp trembled. 17 Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet with God. And they stood at the foot of the mountain. 18 Mount Sinai was completely in smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire. Its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace and the whole mountain quaked greatly. NKJV (JUDGES 5:4-5)

READ: LEVITICUS 10:1-3 1 Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer and put fire in it put incense on it and offered profane fire before the LORD which He had not commanded them. 2 Fire went out from the LORD and devoured them. And they died before the LORD. 3 Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the LORD spoke, Saying: ‘By those who come near Me I must be regarded as holy. And before all the people I must be glorified.’” So Aaron held his peace. NKJV

The foundations of the hills also quaked and were shaken Because He was angry. 8 Smoke went up from His nostrils And devouring fire from His mouth. Coals were kindled by it.

READ: PSALMS 83:13-16 13 O my God, Make them like the whirling dust, Like the chaff before the wind! 14 As the fire burns the woods And as the flame sets the mountains on fire, 15 Pursue them with Your tempest And frighten them with Your storm. 16 Fill their faces with shame That they may seek Your name, O LORD. READ: ISAIAH 29:7-8 7 The multitude of all the nations who fight against Ariel, Even all who fight against her and her fortress, And distress her, Shall be as a dream of a night vision. 8 It shall even be as when a hungry man dreams, And look — he eats; But he awakes, and his soul is still empty; Or as when a thirsty man dreams, And look — he drinks; But he awakes, and indeed he is faint, And his soul still craves: So the multitude of all the nations shall be, Who fight against Mount Zion."

READ: JOB 4:13-17 13 In disquieting thoughts from the visions of the night, When deep sleep falls on men, 14 Fear came upon me and trembling, Which made all my bones shake. 15 Then a spirit passed before my face. The hair on my body stood up. 16 It stood still. I could not discern its appearance. A form was before my eyes. There was silence. Then I heard a voice saying: 17 Can a mortal be more righteous than God? Can a man be more pure than his Maker? NKJV

READ: JOB 7:14-16 14 You scare me with dreams And terrify me with visions, 15 So that my soul chooses strangling And death rather than my body. 16 I loathe my life. I would not live forever. Let me alone, For my days are but a breath. NKJV

READ: DANIEL 2:28 28 There is a God in heaven who reveals secrets and He has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will be in the latter days. Your dream and the visions of your head upon your bed were these: WHY DID DANIEL’S DREAMS TROUBLE HIM? READ: DANIEL 4:5 5 I saw a dream which made me afraid. And the thoughts on my bed and the visions of my head troubled me. NKJV

WHAT ARE MEN’S DREAMS & VISIONS ABOUT? WHY? WHY DID DANIEL RECORD THIS DREAM? READ: DANIEL 7:1 1 In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon, Daniel had a dream and visions of his head while on his bed. He wrote down the dream, telling the main facts. HOW DID DANIEL DESCRIBE THIS DREAM? READ: DANIEL 7:7 7 I saw in the night visions. Behold, A fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, exceedingly strong. It had huge iron teeth. It was devouring, breaking in pieces and trampling the residue with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that were before it. It had ten horns.

READ: DANIEL 7:13-16 13 I was watching in the night visions, Behold, One like the Son of Man, Coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days And They brought Him near before Him. 14 Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom That all peoples, nations and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, Which shall not pass away. And His kingdom the one Which shall not be destroyed. 15 I, Daniel, was grieved in my spirit within my body, and the visions of my head troubled me. 16 I came near to one of those who stood by and asked him the truth of all this. He told me and made known to me the interpretation of these things: NKJV

WHY WAS DAVID ABLE TO TAKE JERUSALEM? READ: 2 SAMUEL 5:6-7 7 David took the stronghold of Zion - City of David HOW WAS THIS CITY DELIVERED? READ: ECCLESIASTES 9:14-15 14 There was a little city with few men in it. And a great king came against it, besieged it, and built great snares around it. 15 There was found in it a poor wise man and he by his wisdom delivered the city. Yet no one remembered that same poor man. NKJV

WHY IS THE TRIUMPH OF THE WICKED SHORT? READ: JOB 20:5-9 5 The triumphing of the wicked is short. And the joy of the hypocrite is but for a moment? 6 Though his haughtiness mounts up to the heavens And his head reaches to the clouds, 7 Yet He will perish forever like his own refuse. Those who have seen him will say, Where is he? 8 He will fly away like a dream and not be found. Yes, he will be chased away like a vision of the night. 9 The eye that saw him will see him no more Nor will his place behold him anymore. NKJV

READ: MICAH 4:11-12 11 Many nations have gathered against you, Who say, Let her be defiled And Let our eye look upon Zion. 12 But they do not know the thoughts of the LORD, Nor do they understand His counsel. For He will gather them like sheaves to the threshing floor. NKJV

READ: JEREMIAH 30:16-17 16 “All those who devour you shall be devoured. All your adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity. Those who plunder you shall become plunder. And All who prey upon you I will make a prey.” 17 “I will restore health to you And heal you of your wounds,” Says the LORD. “Because They called you an outcast Saying: ‘This is Zion and No one seeks her.’”
