  1. Linking the past to the Present Essential Question • How can societies use what they learn from the past?

  2. Requirements • 1. Create a title slide for your PowerPoint including: a title, a visual and your name! • 2. Research six aspects of ancient Greek culture and think of an aspect of our culture which we have developed as a result of the Greek idea. • 3. Each of your six connection slides should include a picture of the Greek item and the current item. Each picture should be labeled. • 4. Each connection slide should also have a short explanation of the connection between the two items. • 5. Create a conclusion slide stating the most significant connection between the Greeks and our civilization today and why! • * I will become an expert in the area of ____________________and present that information to the class!

  6. Math and Science • Abacus Calculator The abacus was a tool used in ancient China to calculate numbers. It was important to trade as merchants kept track of items bought and sold. The modern calculator performs the same basic operations, but also includes many functions needed for mathematics that were developed long after the ancient Chinese. The calculator is now used for trade as well as for scientific purposes.
