  1. Tidal Energy By The Tidal Washers!!!

  2. Contents • Why do we need renewable energy? • How Tidal Energy works? • Examples and Pictures • Advantages • Disadvantages • Future • Quiz – Have you been listening carefully? • Game • Question Time

  3. Why do we need Renewable energy? • We need renewable energy because fossil fuels are running out. • Fossil fuels are not Renewable. • If we use renewable energy the world will be a better place. • Renewable energy means it will never run out.

  4. How Tidal Energy works? • Tidal energy relies on the flow of the tide caused by the pull of the moon. • There are two main ways to get tidal power. • You can get Tidal power from a turbine or generator. • The rising and falling of the sea is caused by the pull of the moon. • When two tides go out across from each other in the middle it builds up and causes curtness. • The curtness twist the turbines and in the turbines there is a metal string which makes electricy.

  5. Photos and examples This is how Tidal energy works This is a barrage in la Rance in France

  6. Advantages • Running costs are very low. • No waste or pollution is produced. • The technology is very reliable. • No fuel is required.

  7. Disadvantages • There are only a few suitable places for tidal energy projects. • Tidal stream technology is at a very early stage of development. • Damming bays or inlets can affect the environment over a large area.

  8. Future • We think in the future the tidal system will be a good success but they might need deeper areas. • It will help the environment and the ozone layer.

  9. Quiz time!!! 1.Where is one of the tidal barrage? 2.What river is it on? 3.Why do we need tidal energy? 4.How long would tidal schemes provide energy for? 5.How does tidal energy work? 6.What causes the tide to come in and out? 7.What is a marine turbine? 8.Why do turbines turn slowly? game
