  2. Habitat • Wet Hot Jungles • Cold Forrest • Need tall grasses and trees so they can catch prey • Tigers love water so they need to be by a water source

  3. Talk like the Animals • Tigers growl at each other to communicate • They have different sounds to mean different feelings • Growl like a Tiger

  4. Family • Usually born in spring • Cub packs of two to three • Mother takes care of the cubs until they are 6months old • After 6 months they live in the community

  5. Food • Tigers can eat up to 60 pounds of meat a day • Usually a meal is 12 pounds of meat • Tigers hunt buffalo, deer and large animals

  6. 5 types of Tigers • South China • Amur (Siberian) • Bengal • Indochinese • Sumatran

  7. South China Tiger • Rarest of the worlds 5 remaining tigers • Only known tigers live in china • 50 tigers remain and all are in captivity

  8. Amur Tiger • Also known as Siberian Tigers • Largest of the cats • Live in East Russia • Only 400 left

  9. Bengal Tiger • Live in India and about 3,250-4,700 left • They have wide black stripes and no two tigers have the same stripes • There are also white Bengal tigers

  10. Indochinese Tiger • Live in Thailand • About 1,500 left • About 60 live in zoos in Asia and the United States

  11. Sumatran Tiger • Smallest of all the tigers • Only about 500 left • Darker colors than the others • Have closely spaced stripes
