  1. Everything You Need to Know About Your Allergies in Texas Allergies. They make you want to curl up into a ball and wait for the season to be over. Summer can be almost impossible to enjoy for people who suffer from outdoor allergies, such as allergies to pollen and grass. You do not have to stay cooped up in the house, get out in the sun with your friends. Keep reading to find out how to control your allergies and make breathing easier. We’re in Texas, so we’re going to focus on combatting allergies here, so short of having a Dallas ENT doctor on speed dial, you’re going to need the following tips in order to deal with the allergies ahead. People who suffer from allergies often have dry, irritated nasal passages that are prone to redness, itchiness and bloody noses. To keep these airway's moist, use a spray of saline solution in each nostril several times per day, then apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly inside the nostrils to keep moisture in. Avoid line-drying your clothing, or linens if you suffer from allergies, especially during the spring. While the smell and feel of fresh, line-dried laundry can be a treat. It can also make you miserable when you bring in pollen from outdoors. Use the clothes dryer when pollen levels are at their peak. Limit the amount of throw rugs you have around your home. They can gather dust, dirt, pollen, pet dander, and other allergens. If you do have throw rugs around the home, make sure they are washable. You can do this every week when you are cleaning your home. Before you commit to allergy injections, understand that having these shots will not eliminate the allergy itself. In actuality, these injections increase your body's threshold. As a result, you can tolerate greater exposure to the allergen before you start to experience discomfort or an allergic reaction. A realistic idea of the results can help you to make the decision whether or not the procedure is worth it. Make your home a little more allergy-free by implementing a no-shoes policy. Why? Because shoes come in from outdoors and carry with them dirt and pollen among other things, only adding to the indoor allergens you are already trying to eliminate. When guests come, offer them slippers or socks you keep especially for this purpose! Treating your allergic symptoms for the first time with antihistamine's prescription or over the counter is best to approach it cautiously. Many of these products are notorious for causing severe drowsiness; there is no way to determine how your body will respond. With this in mind, you should take the first dose at home to avoid safety mishaps or impairments. Most coughs are caused by some form of allergic reaction, yet many people automatically attempt to treat the problem with cough suppressants. However, an allergic cough is your respiratory system's way of breaking up and clearing away mucus. Stifling that cough makes it difficult for your body to productively fight allergic symptoms.

  2. If you suffer from seasonal allergies, a good place to start would be trying over-the-counter medications. Be sure to choose the medication that is for your specific type of allergy. If you are unsure, there are medicines that treat all different types of allergies. Always be sure to follow the directions on the package. If you are allergic to pet dander, designate at least one area in the house as a "pet-free" zone. Your bedroom is the most obvious choice. Keeping this area clean, and free from intrusions by your furry friends can significantly alleviate your allergy symptoms. The alternative, of course, is to designate a single area in which your pet can stay. The shabby-chic look is making a comeback in home fashions. Its signature overstuffed sofas, chairs, and loveseats can wreak havoc on your allergies. Studies have shown, that this type of furniture is often loaded with a higher-than-average amount of notorious allergens like goat hair, burlap, jute, and even cattle dander. Avoid these decorative pieces at all costs. Buy a dehumidifier for your basement. If you have a damp basement, this can be a breeding ground for mold. You can avoid mold build up, which triggers allergies, by putting a dehumidifier in your basement. You may want to buy a humidity gauge, to figure out the type of dehumidifier you need. While completely avoiding known allergens is one way in which you can effectively manage your allergies, it is not a very practical solution. After all, who wants to avoid pets and parks for the rest of their life? By following the tips found in this article, you can learn about and identify your options for managing and living with your allergy symptoms. It is not necessary to suffer with the symptoms of your allergies. You can take control of them and manage them effectively.
