Title VII-B Youth projects • Independent Living (IL) Network members will have access to more youth transition tools as funds awarded will tailor their services and consumer relationships to respond to the needs and interests of people with disabilities “ages 14 to 24” we can say the goal is partially met. • Six Youth Transition Grants are operational through 9/30/19. • The California Youth Leadership Forum received financial support and in-kind support from the I.L. Network. • Twelve Independent Living Centers reported increased activity to improve outcomes for youth with disabilities.

Title VII-B Youth projects One-time events socializing, having wilderness adventures, more; Workshops and presentations; One-time conferences, trainings for youth service providers; Programming designed for parents; Outreach at high schools and colleges; Participation in national research about youth services; Published manuals and marketing materials; Received high approval ratings from youth and parents; Additional programming to reach Deaf youth; Leadership advisory committees, teams, and workshops; Employment placements.

  5. Title VII-B Youth projects Some centers invested extra into tailoring services to youth by creating curriculums for summer and after-school, video projects, computer/laptop assembly, college transition, drone aviation, employment readiness, career skills, and peer mentoring for college. One curriculum was also tested at Humboldt State University.

  6. State Plan for Independent Living Seven workgroups including • Employment, Transportation, Housing. • Youth Transition Services Plan amendment this year, new plan expected next year. New instrument. New regulations. Conflict of Interest concerns impacting process.

  7. The SILC is moving! • New address is 1300 Ethan Way, Suite 105. • Lease June 1, 2019 • Similar suite, further from Capitol. • Same building as Public Utilities Commission’s Deaf and Disabled Telecommunications Program, California Telephone Access Program (CTAP).
