  2. What is TVET? The TVET program allows school students to complete 2 to 4 units towards their Higher School Certificate at TAFE. Students can enrol in 2 units in the first year of study (Preliminary) and 2 units in the second year of study (HSC). Most school students will enrol in Year 11 – Preliminary Year 12 – HSC These students are then eligible to gain 4 units towards their HSC result and a TAFE award.

  3. But ... Year 12 students can enrol in a preliminary course. They are then eligible to gain 2 units towards their HSC and a TAFE transcript. Year 11 students can withdraw after the preliminary year and are eligible for 2 units for that year, and a TAFE transcript. Year 10 students can now enrol in TVET courses. Some courses allow students to complete 6 units of study over 2 years

  4. This year you will be delivering a dual qualification Board of Studies (BOS) endorsed course. Students are eligible to gain 2 units towards their Higher School Certificate. Selected units from a TAFE course. Students are eligible for a TAFE qualification. Some TVET courses will allow students to course complete.

  5. There are 2 types of TVET courses Framework Course and Non Framework Course

  6. You are delivering a Non Framework Course

  7. Roll Book Keep a manual roll for the first 3-4 weeks (there is a major shift by students during this time) A CLAMS roll book will be generated by head teacher or TVET coordinator. Check for TVET tab in roll.

  8. TVET tab in CLAMS All teachers and head teachers on TVET programs are required to have a TVET tab in CLAMS. This tab is vital throughout the year to facilitate mandatory data entry. If a TVET tab does not appear in your roll book please complete a CLAMS Account Request/Change form.

  9. Enrolment Confirmation Weeks 1 - 3 • Enrolment Confirmation Forms are supplied to classroom teacher. • Student to the check form for accuracy and manually make changes to any errors. Highlight any changes for Student Administration. • Student to sign Enrolment Confirmation Form. • Teacher to sign Enrolment Confirmation Form as enrolling officer.

  11. Authority to Publish Please assist by having TVET students complete an Authority to Publish. If students are under 18 they will need parental signature. Class teacher to collect and file Authority to Publish in roll books.

  12. Car Parking - Wollongong If students need to access the car park throughout the year they must complete a Student Parking Permit Form and take to Student Administration. A fee of $10 is payable on submission of form and then student to pay $1 each visit.

  13. Results for TAFE course Students must complete all requirements as set out in TAFE Student Assessment Guide, students to receive and sign for. Results for these units are recorded into CLAMS by classroom teacher and approved by Head Teacher. These results are TAFE results and are SEPARATE from BOS results.

  14. Results for BOS Endorsed Courses Students will achieve either a Satisfactory result or an N determination (non completion). This result is recorded by TVET Co-ordinator and forwarded to the TVET Institute Consultant. You do NOT need to do anything about this mark but you will be required to ensure that students are meeting the BOS requirements in your classroom.

  15. To satisfactorily complete a BOS course a student must: • Apply themselves with diligence and sustained effort to set tasks (not assessment tasks). • Achieve some or all of the outcomes. • Make a genuine attempt at assessment which contributes in excess of 50% of the available marks.

  16. A student who is NOT satisfactorily completing a BOS endorsed course: When you determine a student is not satisfactorily completing the Board of Studies component the student is to receive 2 warning letters before the process of an N determination is commenced. There are strictly enforced deadlines set by the Board of Studies for the issue of warning letters and N determinations.

  17. Warning Letters Warnings letters are initiated by TAFE classroom teacher through the TVET tab in CLAMS roll book. Warning letters are sent to the school and student by the TVET coordinator using a mail merge with data in CLAMS roll book. If student does not comply within the allocated time then another letter is to be created and sent ASAP.

  18. Reporting Schools have read only access to records in CLAMS. Teachers to complete attendances each week. This is a requirement of the delivery contract. BOS will download all work placements hours and HSC trial marks as soon as CLAMS results are approved and locked.
