  2. The Earth is theonlyplanetwe’vegot - weshouldprotectit and keepitalive. Ournaturalresourcesare: -air: -water: -land: -forests: -minerals: -coal: buttheyareendangered – amongothers - bydifferenttypes of pollution.

Types of pollution • Air pollution: smoke, exhaustfumes and aerosolspraysproducegreenhousegases, whichdepletetheozonelayer. • Waterpollution: oiltankersreleasepetrol and oil, whichkilltheanimalslivingthere. • Noisepollution: cars and othervehiclesproducenoise, whichirritatespeople, animalsandplants. • Soilpollution: Pesticides and othertypes of poisonousmaterials and chemicalsendangerourhealth.

  4. A largenumber of animals (penguins, polarbears, etc…) arelosingtheirhabitats, becauseofthemeltingoftheicecaps. The most importantcause is globalwarming! Wearerunning out of naturalresources. Freshwater is goingtodecrease, ifwedon’ttakecare.

  5. Howcan WE savetheEarth? Wecansaveenergybyturningoffthelights, whenweleaveourroom. Wecanalsoturnofftheheating, and alltheappliancesthatarenotinuse. Weshouldusepaperonbothsides, oratleastthrowthemawaytorecyclingbins.

  6. Weshouldturnoffwater taps, takeshortershowersinstead of having a bath, and usewater-savingdevicesifpossible.

  7. Weshouldusenaturalcleanerswhichdonotcontainanytoxicmaterials, orharmfulchemicals, and biogradableproductslikenaturalsoaps and dishes. The bestwaytoprotecttheenvironment is conservation.

  8. Switchoffthe TV orthe computer, whennotinuse, theyconsumeenergy and makenoise. Go out withyourfriendsinstead! A lot of energy (nearly 25 %) can be savedbynotleavingelectricalapplianceson stand by. Ifyouhavethechancetocarpool, doit. Ifyou drive toofast, then more petrol is wasted. Buttheworstthingyoucando is usingyourcarwhenyoudon’tneedto.

  9. Weshouldusepublictransportinstead of cars, orjustrideour bike orwalk. Riding and walkingaremuch less noisy and donotconsumeanyfuel. Didyouknow? Scientistshaveprovedthatplantsgrowbetteriftheylistentoclassicalinstead of rock music. Donotuseyourhornwhenit is notnecessary!

  10. Wecreatetoomuchwaste. Weshouldreuse and repairthingsinstead of throwingthemaway. Recyclinghelpstoreducetheamount of rubbish. Wecanvolunteerfortree-planting and otherenvironmentalprogrammesaswell. Wecanalsokeep a lot of waste out of landfillsitesbycompostingleftoversinour back garden. Itcan be usedas a fertiliserforthesoil.

  11. Spreadawareness of environmentalissuesintheworld and donotforgetthatwedidnotinheritourplanetfromourfathers, butwehaveborroweditfromourchildren!
