  3. AZTREONAM INHIBE LA MAYORÍA DE LAS Enterobacteriaceae A CONCENTRACIONES MENORES DE 0.5 µG/ML ALGUNAS cepasdeP.aeruginosa, E. cloacae, and C. freundii SON RESISTENTES. LA MAYORÍA DE LAS P. aeruginosaSON INHIBIDOS POR MENOS DE 16 µG/ML. LA MAYORÍA DE B. cepacia , S. maltophiliayAcinetobacter spp. SON RESISTENTES. CONCENTRACIONES MÁS ALTAS PUEDEN ALCANZARSE DESPUÉS DE MÚLTIPLES DOSIS

AZTREONAM • AZTREONAM SE EXCRETA POR VÍA RENAL • ADULTOS CON FUNCIONES RENAL Y HEPÁTICA NORMALES • LA VIDA MEDIA ES APROXIMADAMENTE DE 2 HORAS. • AZTREONAM NO SE ABSORBE POR EL TRACTO GASTROINTESTINA • 1 DOSIS DE 500-MG IM DE AZTREONAM PRODUCE CONCENTRACIONES SÉRICAS DE 21 A 27 µG/ML A LA HORA • Y 4 A 6 µG/ML A LAS 6 HORAS. • LAS CONCENTRACIONES SÉRICAS A LA HORA DESPUÉS DE UNA DOSIS IM SON IGUALES A LA DE LA DOSIS INTRAVENOSA • AZTREONAM LLEGA A NIVELES TERAPÉUTICOS EN LOS TEJIDOS, LÍQUIDOS Y TODO EL ORGANISMO. • CONCENTRACIONES EN EL LCR CON LAS MENINGES INFLAMADAS SON DE 3 A 7 µG/ML

Aztreonamesmuybientolerado • Brotescutáneos son raros • Es el único de los β-lactámicosque se puedeutilizar con seguridad en pacientes con reaccióninmediata de hipersensibilidad a laspenicilinas u otros beta-lactámicos • No existereactividadcruzada. • Reaccioneshematológicas, gastrointestinales, nefrotóxicaso neurotóxicas son raras.
