Nagaland University - [NU], Lumami

Nagaland University Lumami is a central university, situated in Lumami, Zunheboto, India. It was established in 1989, and is approved by NAAC. The university presently has six schools with 41 departments of studies that spread across major verticals of educational degrees.<br>The university offers UG, PG and Ph.D. level courses in various streams like Arts, Science, Commerce, Agricultural Science, Engineering & Technology and Management. Popular courses offered by the university are B.A, B.Com, B.Ed., MBA/PGDM, among many others.

  3. ABOUTUNIVERSITY The motto of Nagaland University is Labour et Honour meaning Labour and Honour is certainly the main driving factor of the University. The University has a vibrant history originating from as long ago as 1989. Nagaland University, during its developmental phase, has seen many problems and come out victorious every time, be it acquiring colleges from NEHU or setting up one campus after another. As of now, Nagaland University has under its wings a sum total of 65 colleges and 4 campuses, all of which jointly contribute towards the development of as many as 24000 students.

  5. Nagaland University formed by the parliamentary act no 35 of 1989 in 1989. The University, after receiving a green signal from the president of India, became the only central University of Nagaland. The act, however only laid the foundation and a paving path for the University which ultimately started its operation in the year 1994 on the 6th of September. The University, despite starting in 1994, faced major problems till 2010. It had to wait for its headquarters at Lumami to be adequately ready till 2010. With the establishment of Nagaland University, all colleges and exiting institutes alike within Nagaland fell under the jurisdiction of Nagaland University. Thus two campuses of NEHU, namely the Kohima campus and the Medziphema campuses, had to be acquired by Nagaland University. Meanwhile, as the setting up of the main headquarter and the main Lumamai campus went on the University operated from the Kohima campus. Gradually the University moved to its main campus in Lumami with now running a total of 4 campuses all through Nagaland. HISTORY

  6. RANKING The University has ranked in the range of 100-151 in university ranking. Additionally, it secured a place in the 151-200 range in the overall ranking by NIRF.

INFRASTRUCTURE The University saw a rigorous developmental phase for almost a decade and a half and now operates in 4 campuses and acts as an affiliation body to as many as 65 colleges all throughout Nagaland. To enumerate, the infrastructure of Nagaland University is no different or inferior to other Central Universities. The campus of the University totals 802 acres which house a library, as well as a sports arena. Library There are libraries on the different campuses of the University coupled with relevant facilities. Students get access to digital content through the library as well. The libraries have subscriptions for numerous national and international journals. Research papers and studies are also available in the library. It has an integrated RFID system and software-enabled system for ease of operation. Additionally, the furnishing of the library is adequate as well. Hostel The Dimapur campus has four separate hostels for boys and girls, two for each. In addition, adequate hostel facilities are available on each campus of the University. The Lumani campus has a total of 9 hostels four boys and 5 for girls.

  8. Sports Spaces and stadiums for sports like table tennis, Badminton are offered on the Lumani campus together with other sports like chess, football, carom, and cricket. In like manner, the Dimapur campus even offers a gymnasium to students. Internet Campuses at Nagaland University have WI-Fi. Additionally, facilities like NKN (National Knowledge Network) are also available at the campuses, coupled with Lan availably at certain premises.
