  3. 5-7-5 • Syllables – a unit for measuring the lengths of words that refers to one vowel sound. • Ex./ DOG • 1 syllable • Ex./Antidisestablishmentarianism • 12 syllables • A Haiku follows the meter of 5-7-5 • Line One: 5 syllables • Line Two: 7 syllables • Line Three: 5 syllables
