False Interpretations • Use of Carbon 14 Dating to prove evolution – dates of rocks with known dates only off by .268 – 3.49 million years – ‘What date do you want?’ • 2 Peter 3:15,16 “beloved brother Paul… in all his epistles.. People twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.”

  5. “Does not apply today.” • Baptist Manual, p22 they admit there was only ONE CHURCH in 1st century, but times have changed. • 2 Timothy 3:1-5 “1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be …without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power…”

  6. Sermon on the Mt. Applies Only to the Apostles • Attempt to avoid application of what Jesus taught on Divorce & Remarriage to All Men this side of the cross. • Matthew 28:20 “teaching them to observe ALL THINGS that I have commanded you…” • 2 Timothy 2:2 “the things that you have heard from me…, commit these to faithful men…to teach others also.”

  10. “Just a Book of Ideals…” • New Testament presents beautiful ideals • Sermon on the Mt. turned world upside down! • Evaders say these ideals were not meant for practice • Jesus gave principles – no mere ideals • Matthew 5:21,22,27,28,31-34 • Matthew 7:29 “one having authority”

  11. Cannot Evade the TRUTH OF GOD’S WORD! • Matters not whether we ignore it Now, or try to explain it away… • It will stand as the criteria by which we will be judged in the Last Day – like it or not! • John 12:48 “the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day”
