  1. Flavour Tagging Requirements M Battaglia

  2. Kinematics and Topology Broad range of b-jet energies of interest: ~0.1 g 1.5 TeV; Long lived hadrons in b-jets acquire significant flight distance: in four jet 3 TeV events over 1/3 of charged particles with p>1 GeV decay after first VTX layer e+e-gnnH0 (180)gnnbb b-jet Energy e+e-g H0A0g bbbb b-jet Energy e+e-g H0A0g bbbb Radius of Vertex of Origin

  3. Impact Parameter Resolution Five-layered barrel VTX with Rin = 30 mm, Rout = 60 mm 15 mm pixels, 3 mm single point resolution, MOKKA+ dedicated Marlin digi and standalone patrec e+e-g H0A0gbbbb 3 TeV

  4. b-tag in Multi-parton Processes: e+e- g H0A0g bbbb • SUSY heavy Higgs boson expected to be a genuine feast for flavour tagging • e+e-g H0A0g bbbb, g bbtt, gtttt; • e+e-g H+H-g tbtb, gtntn. • Production central but cross sections only O(1 fb) and e = etag4 Full MOKKA+Marlin w/ Full SM Bkg + 20 BX gg

  5. b-tag in Missing Energy Processes: e+e-gnnH0gnnbb Determine intermediate-mass Higgs fermionic coupling gHbb H g bb as “Rare Higgs Decay” s(e+e-)

  6. b-tag in Missing Energy Processes: e+e-gnnH0gnnbb Preliminary MOKKA+Marlin H(180)nn signal + simulation level SM background; Assume eb = 0.90 dBR(Hgbb)/BR(Hgbb) = 0.045 MH = 180 GeV

  7. b-tag in Missing Energy Processes: e+e-gnnH0H0gnnbbbb Unique opportunity to precisely probe Higgs potential through gHHH Experimental “tour de force” : xSec ~ 1 fb; soft, fwd b-jets and ZZnn, WWnn, tt backgrounds

  8. Sensitivity of HHnn cross section to triple Higgs coupling for various polar angle coverages Non-trivial interference of double WW fusion with other diagrams yielding double Higgs production but not involving the triple Higgs vertex; All angles • Imperative to accept (b-tag ?) • jets at low angles to retain the • sensitivity to gHHH; • = eb4 with ~ 1.5-2.0k useful • evts g need to achieve eb > 0.85 |cos q | < 0.95 |cos q | < 0.85

  9. b-tag in 2-fermion Processes: e+e-g bb Sensitivity to Z’SSM from s(e+e-g bb) for various polar angle coverages Electroweak observables open up window on high mass scale beyond kinematic reach and enable us to identify nature of new bosons; Cross sections, AFB and ALR main observables for tagged fermions; No significant loss of sensitivity discarding small angles but needs high tagging efficiency and purity and potentially vertex charge for AFB.
