  1. Max Buch Futura

  2. Why Futura? • I love the geometric style • Interested in the Bauhaus movement • Its a font I have used a lot in the past • I like San Serif fonts

  3. Who designed Futura? • It was designed by Paul Renner in 1927 • He was a German, Graphic Designer, Typographer, Type Designer, Painter and Teacher. • He also designed books for the Munich Publishing trade.

  4. Characteristics of Futura • Futura is a geometric san-serif typeface. • Its based on geometric shapes • Letters based on near perfect circles, triangles and squares. • ‘Futura is timelessly modern; in 1928 it was striking, tasteful, radical — and today it continues to be a popular typographic choice to express strength, elegance, and conceptual clarity’

  5. Where is Futura found today?

  10. Design Considerations • I have two overall theme ideas, geometric shapes and space. • Geometric shapes will follow the Bauhaus style and primary colours. • Simple and effective. • I want to take it back to 1969.

  11. The next steps • Conclude which theme I follow, maybe both at once. • Create the finalfront cover • Look at a diverse range of materials I could use. • Start thinking about a way to link the theme through the whole specimen book • Content of the specimen book
