Safety Culture Policy Statement(s) Tasking Commission direction, Feb. 2008 to develop a Draft Policy Statement(s) on safety culture with the following considerations: • Expand the Commission’s policy of safety culture to address the unique aspects of security • Address safety culture for all NRC and Agreement States licensees and certificate holders

  3. Safety Culture Policy Statement (s) Tasking (cont’d) • Whether safety culture as applied to reactors needs to be strengthened • How to increase attention to safety culture in the materials area • Whether NRC’s expectations for safety culture and security culture is best accomplished in 1 or 2 policy statements

  4. Safety Culture Policy Statement(s) Development • Steering Committee and Task Group established • Data gathering and analysis • Stakeholder outreach activities • Public workshop held February 3, 2009

  5. Safety Culture Policy Statement (s) Development (cont) • Staff development of Commission Paper including recommendations and Draft Policy Statement(s) • Due to the Commission by April 30, 2009 • Commission Meeting May 27, 2009
