  4. 1. What is the main function of the Digestive System? Functions: mechanical and chemical breakdown of food        *absorption of nutrients Consists of alimentary (nutritious) canal and accessory organs

  5. 2. What is the first step of digestion? The mouth is first to receive food. The grinding motion of chewing, and the enzymes found in saliva, begin the digestive process.

  6. 3. Describe two problems that can happen to teeth, and how to prevent them. Teeth are important to digestion! Take care of them!

  8. Tooth Decay can be reduced by brushing, flossing, and reducing sugary foods.
