About Mrs. Skroch •I graduated from Central Washington University with double majors in School Health and Elementary Education. •I have a Masters degree from Lesley University in Curriculum and Development. •I have 23 years of experience. I taught full day Kindergarten at a private school for 6 years, 4 years looping 1st/2nd grade in the Kent School District and this will be my 13th year in Issaquah teaching Kindergarten. •I’ve been married to my husband John for 23 years. He’s a Head Age Group Swim Coach for the Issaquah Swim Team. We live in the area and have two boys, Fischer and Parker, and two turtles. •In my freetime I like to play with my boys and go on adventures with them. We also love to swim, camp, and travel….

  6. School Lunch Information Your child has the choice of bringing a lunch to school or buying a lunch from the school cafeteria. The cost of the lunch is $3.75 and there are several choices everyday. Each child has his/her own account number and you are able to deposit money in this account for his/her use. Whenever you send in money for the account please put your child’s number on the check and make it out to Issaquah Food Services. If you have any concerns about your child’s account call #425-837-5622. Pay online: MySchoolBucks.com ***Please label your child’s lunchbox***

  10. Handwriting Without Tears I’ve included a handout for you to use with students that uses the verbiage and formations we will be using. *They have a great app for the ipad.

Eureka Math – A Story of Units • A comprehensive curriculum written by a team of teachers and mathematicians who took great care to present mathematics in a logical progression, preparing students to understand advanced math • Developed specifically to meet the math standards adopted by our state • Connects math to the real world in ways that take the fear out of math and build student confidence • Teaches math as a “story” to build students’ mathematical knowledge logically and help them achieve deep understanding • This approach can be unfamiliar to those of us who grew up memorizing mathematical facts and formulas

  15. K-5 Homework Guidelines for Parents The length of time a child should spend on homework, including reading, and projects is 10-20 minutes in grades K-2, and 30 – 45 in grades 3 – 5. If your child regularly requires a great deal more time than this to complete assignments, you should contact your child’s teacher. If your child does not have homework or finishes early, it is always a good idea to spend time reading or reviewing math facts. *Kindergarten has no homework! (Read with your child)

  17. Our grade level has decided to celebrate withstudents donating a special birthday book to the classroom. Students will also receive a birthday crown. (We love having parents come and read the donated book to the class! ☺) Please contact me before the date to set up a time for you to come and read the book to the class. Birthday Celebrations

  18. Snack: Small, healthy, simple snacks as students have only about 5 minutes to eat them. Fruit (Must be able to peel on own) Crackers Cheese sticks *No juice please! ***If we decided to do group snack: I will send out an e-mail when we are low on snacks or Dixie cups to hold snack. ☺ Snack Information

  24. General Everyday Parent Helpers Sometime in October you will be able to sign up to help the class. Starting October 16th we will have helpers in the class. I will send out an attachment with the times I need helpers. All helpers must have completed the district background check. *These jobs can be photocopying, art projects, working with small groups of students, and much, much more... Parent Helpers
