  2. Recent Activities • We have started to develop a push model of MWL. Currently we are collecting use cases. The cases may be limited to general X-ray studies. • JIRA members visited hospitals in Korea to investigate how they succeeded to use PACSs at their hospitals widely. About 20% of hospitals operate without film. Only a few percent of Japanese hospitals run without film. • There is economical incentive to operate filmless department. • In reimbursement • Film cost • Radiologists there are more respected by physicians than in Japan, they say.

  3. Recent Activities (to be continued) • JIRA formed a committee for SR. • They have a close relationship with a group of JRS.

Some News • Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) agreed to continue to support IHE-J activity financially. • Ministry of Health, Welfare, and Labor (MHWL) has started the discussion of deregulation regarding to storing medical records outside of healthcare facility. • Keys; • What kinds of documents will be the first? • PKI for transferring data between facilities. • What kind of rules should be adopted to the facilities to protect PHI?
