  3. Statement of the Problem • The problem is really to incorporate technology to ESL classrooms to increase their literacy levels by having them explore different, tangible ways to acquire and master this new language. Our classroom should reflect the most current technological methods of learning. The children of the 21st century should see technology not only as an entrainment device but as a learning tool as well. It is our responsibility to provide them with the necessary tools to do so in todays world.

  5. Theorist Associated with ESL Acquisition • Ofelia Garcia • professor in the Ph.D. program of Urban Education at the CUNY Graduate Center. • She has taught bilingual education in a variety of colleges across NY. • She focuses on the pedagogy and assessment in the classroom, she believes that there are a variety of factors that affect the ESL student. (the curriculum, the different types of learners and the community that must adapt to the current times) • She states that “educational practices must be extended to reflect the complex multilingual and multimodal communicative networks of the twenty-first century.”

  6. My Hypothesis • HR- Incorporating technology five times a week for forty-five minutes during the afternoon over a four weeks period, will motivate six ESL third grade students to increase their literacy levels by creating digital stories in class.
