The Elizabethan Religious Settlement The 1559 Act of Supremacy and the 1559 Act of Uniformity established the Elizabethan Religious Settlement. • They declared that Elizabeth was Supreme Governor of the Church of England. • They revived the legislation which was repealed during the parliaments of Mary’s reign.
