  2. THE CLAIM All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2Tim 3:16-17

  3. THE CLAIM Knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. 2Pt 1:20-21

  4. THE CLAIM In other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets: Eph 3:5

  5. THE CLAIM For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. Rom 15:4

  6. SUMMARY • WHAT DO THE SCRIPTURES CLAIM? • They are INSPIRED by God • The Holy Spirit REVEALED them to men • Men were MOVED to write them down • They provide REAL hope

  7. THE EVIDENCE • UNITY IN DIVERSITY • Unity: The Bible is one book • Unity: The Bible is one continuous story • Unity: There are no contradictions • Diversity: Multiple letters • Diversity: Multiple authors • Diversity: Multiple kinds of literature

  11. THE CONCLUSION • The scriptures claim inspiration • The scriptures are united and diverse • The scriptures are historically accurate • The scriptures are prophetic • The scriptures are unique • Why, because they come from God
