What does Kindergarten look like? • 3 hours of instructional time • 100 minutes devoted to literacy each day • Other curricular areas include: math, social studies, science, health, art, physical education and music. • Maximum number of students in a class is 33 (during overlap portion of the day) • Motivating, exciting, nurturing, loving, challenging environment

  6. EL/SEI Kindergarten Class Subject to change for 2012-2013 school year • New addition to Oak Creek • Allows for newcomer English Learners to attend their home school while receiving ELD support. • Curriculum and Standards are the same as mainstream kindergarten. • Daily instruction and support in English vocabulary, grammar, speaking, reading, writing and listening.

  7. 2011-2012 Schedule*This schedule is subject to change for the 2012-2013 school year based on enrollment and classroom space available. • Each class is currently divided into 2 sessions that overlap in the middle. Early Birds: 8-11:30 Late Owls: 10:15-1:45

  12. Common Core Standards http://www.commoncore.org/ IUSD Kindergarten is implementing the Common Core Standards in our instruction and that will be reflected in the Common Core progress reports three times a year (Dec., Mar., June).
