  2. Crown Point Celebration by Anne McGinty Anne McGinty is one of the most prolific female composers in the field of concert band literature. She has written for concert band, orchestra, and small ensembles.

  3. Crown Point Celebration by Anne McGinty This piece is in a traditional ABA form. The first section is upbeat, passing the melody back and forth between various instrumental sections. The second B section is slower and more lyrical.

  4. Crown Point Celebration by Anne McGinty Here we see the return of the A section, recalling the quicker tempo and sixteenth note based rhythms of the opening. Both melody and countermelody overlap creating an exciting musical texture as the piece pushes to a close.

  5. Three on the Isle by Hugh M. Stuart This multi-movement work contains three types of folk songs from different locales in Britain. The first movement, Song from Wolking Castle, is typical of the area where Robert Burns wrote his famous poem The Brigs of Ayr.

  6. Three on the Isle by Hugh M. Stuart The second movement, Ayre for Betws-y-Coedis a lyrical songs from the little Welsh town, Betws-y-Coed. The Welsh have always been known for their singing and this plaintive melody is typical of their beautiful songs.

  7. Three on the Isle by Hugh M. Stuart The last movement is titled A Tune from County Antrim. Many Scots fled to Antrim County, Ireland, when Mary Queen of Scots met her demise. In time, the Scottish and Irish music was melded together to produce in Antrim County a folklore which had some elements of each culture.

  9. No One Mourns The Wicked In the beginning of this award winning musical, the Wicked Witch of the West is dead. No one mourns for her.

  10. I’m Not That Girl The rest of the musical takes place in the form of a flashback, before a green-skinned girl named Elphaba became the Wicked Witch. Here, she sings of how the one she truly loves, Fiyero, could never love someone like her.

  11. Defying Gravity Society doesn’t accept Elphaba because of the color of her skin. Labled “evil”, she comes to be called the “Wicked Witch”. Elphaba soon discovers those who claim to be good are actually evil. This segment is written with a driving rock feel, which can be heard at different times during the musical.

  12. No Good Deed The Oz guards try to capture Elphaba, but Fiyero helps her escape. He is taken to be tortured. Elphaba tries to cast a spell to save him, but believes she has failed. She begins to accept her reputation as “wicked”.

  13. For Good After much turmoil and a number of plot twists and turns later, Glinda finds Elphaba and reaffirms the friendship they had formed earlier in the musical. Elphaba convinces Glinda to take over as ruler of Oz. Soon after, Dorothy arrives and melts the Wicked Witch with a bucket of water.

  14. For Good Glinda mourns for Elphaba, believing her friend is truly dead. In the end, however, the audience sees Fiyero (no longer under Oz guard custody) open a trap door. Elphaba emerges alive and well and the two live happily ever after.

  16. March of the Belgian Paratroopers by Pierre Leemans March of the Belgian Paratroopers, or Marche des ParachutistesBelgesin the composer's native language, was started by the composer during World War I, but not finished until World War II.

  17. March of the Belgian Paratroopers by Pierre Leemans It was finished to commemorate the Belgian Paratroop Brigade being formed in the early 1940's.

  19. Jersey Boys arr. Michael Brown Jersey Boys is a jukebox musical, which uses previously released material as it's score. It is about the rise and fall of the popular 1960's rock band, The Four Seasons. It opened on Broadway in 2005, and won the Tony for Best Musical in 2006.

The producer thought they were about to get the perfect take, and barricaded the doors so no one could get out…firemen had to break down the door with an ax to get the musicians out!

Players have words like “growl” and “wa” written in their music to get the desired effects at the beginning of the piece. Drummer Connor Hennessy plays like famous drummer Gene Krupa, who played on “Sing, Sing, Sing”.

  27. Friend Like Me by Alan Menken, arr. Jay Bocook Alan Menken is best known for his scores for films produced by Walt Disney Studios. He has composed scores for The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Enchanted, andTangled.

  28. Highlights from Frozen arr. Sean O’Loughlin The Frozen soundtrack spent fourteen straight weeks as the number one album, becoming the first soundtrack to do that since 1998’s Titanic.
