  1. AD, 2009 How to prepare for the days ahead…

  2. Our series on the Minor Prophets will give us a glimpse of what is to come in the days ahead…

  3. What are we in for in 2009 Terrorism War Earthquakes Persecution Gay agenda legalized Our Children being taught that the Bible is fiction and it teaches intolerance and hate… Obama-nation Economic Decline

  4. Those in the 'know' say we are headed for some difficult times in 2009…Yet we do not fear

  5. Mat 6:31 "Do not worry then, saying, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear for clothing?' 32 "For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. 34 "So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own

  6. Jas 4:13 Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit." 14 Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. 15 Instead, you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that."

  7. It is now, that our peace, our hope, our joy must be in the Lord!It must not be on possessions…

  8. Luk 12:34 "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Luk 12:35 "Be dressed in readiness, and keep your lamps lit.

  9. Mat 5:14 "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; 15 nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Mat 5:16 "Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

  10. A message forged in the fire of prayer for the Church of the Living God,the precious Bride of Christ, the company of the redeemed…

  11. This message is for the Pastors, the elders, and the leaders as well as all who have named the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, and called themselves 'Christians'.

  12. Revelation 3:1 "To the angel of the church in Sardis write: He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars, says this: 'I know your deeds, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead."

  13. Revelation 3:1 "To the angel of the church in Sardis write: He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars, says this: 'I know your deeds, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead." Sardis = ‘red ones’ as in those who are fair skinned and tanned with the sun. It was a very rich and luxurious city, known for it’s golden sand and beauty. The Church in Sardis had become proud of their city and their wealth. They had fallen into the intoxicating grasp of materialism and worldliness.

  14. Luk 12:34-35 "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. "Be dressed in readiness, and keep your lamps lit.

  15. Most of us, like them, have all failed God

  16. Revelation 3:4 -5'But you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their garments; and they will walk with Me in white, for they are worthy. 5 'He who overcomes will thus be clothed in white garments; and I will not erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.

  17. For you, the few who have stayed awake and walked with God, this message is one that you need to declare to those around you who have failed, who are asleep.

  18. Revelation 3:2 -3 'Wake up, and strengthen the things that remain, which were about to die; for I have not found your deeds completed in the sight of My God. 3 'So remember what you have received and heard; and keep it, and repent. Therefore if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come to you.

  19. What the Church needs to do to prepare for the days ahead…

  20. Revelation 3:2-3a'Wake up, and strengthen the things that remain, which were about to die; for I have not found your deeds completed in the sight of My God. 3 'So remember what you have received and heard; and keep it, and repent.

  21. 1. Wake up!2. Strengthen what remains3. Complete what God has told you to do4. Remember what you have received and heard5.Repent!

  22. However, before we get into these five points, the Lord has something else to say…

  23. 1Samuel 12:20-22 Samuel said to the people, "Do not fear. You have committed all this evil, yet do not turn aside from following the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart. 21 "You must not turn aside, for then you would go after futile things which can not profit or deliver, because they are futile. 22 "For the LORD will not abandon His people on account of His great name, because the LORD has been pleased to make you a people for Himself.

  24. This morning, on the apex of a New Year, God's message to us is clear. And even in a declining economy,We must remember…

  25. Heb 13:5 Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, "I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU," Heb 13:6 so that we confidently say, "THE LORD IS MY HELPER, I WILL NOT BE AFRAID. WHAT WILL MAN DO TO ME?"

  26. Do not fear – God will never leave you or forsake you!Even though you have abandoned God, He will never abandon you!Do not turn aside from following the Lord – it's not too late

  27. Tit 3:3-6 "For we also once were foolish ourselves, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another. 4 But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, 5 He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior"

  28. 1Samuel 12:20-22 Samuel said to the people, "Do not fear.

  29. Philipians 1:6 "For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus."

  30. 1Peter 2:24-25 "He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. 1Pe 2:25 For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls"

  31. It is time to return.Today is the day to wake up!

  32. Eph 5:14 For this reason it says, "Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, And Christ will shine on you." 15Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, 16 making the most of your time, because the days are evil. 17 So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

  33. Rom 13:11-14Do this, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we believed. 12The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. 13 Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy. 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.

  34. 1Pe 4:7 The end of all things is near; therefore, be of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of prayer. 8 Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins. 9 Be hospitable to one another without complaint. 10 As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

  35. Back to our text, and the message for the Church as we enter 2009 A.D.

  36. Revelation 3:2-3a'Wake up, and strengthen the things that remain, which were about to die; for I have not found your deeds completed in the sight of My God. 3 'So remember what you have received and heard; and keep it, and repent.

  37. 1. Wake up! 2. Strengthen what remains3. Complete what God has told you to do4. Remember what you have received and heard5.Repent!

  38. Jas 5:7 Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits for the precious produce of the soil, being patient about it, until it gets the early and late rains. 8 You too be patient; strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near. 9 Do not complain, brethren, against one another, so that you yourselves may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing right at the door.

  39. 1Peter 5:8 -10 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world. 10 After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.

  40. 3. Complete what God has given us to do!

  41. Our Lord gave us a few tasks to complete before He returns. Two weeks ago we talked about the most important one – the great comission…

  42. Mat 24:11-14 "Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many. 12 "Because lawlessness is increased, most people's love will grow cold. 13 "But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved. 14 "This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.

  43. In fact, Jesus last command to us was…Act 1:8 "but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth." 9 And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. "

  44. Paul knew this well, and that is why he asked the Church to pray…

  45. 2Th 3:1 Finally, brethren, pray for us that the word of the Lord will spread rapidly and be glorified, just as it did also with you; 2 and that we will be rescued from perverse and evil men; for not all have faith. 3 But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one. 4 We have confidence in the Lord concerning you, that you are doing and will continue to do what we command. 5 May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the steadfastness of Christ.

  46. 4. Remember what you have received and heard

  47. The word 'remember' in the Greek means…"to make mention of often, rehearse, memorize, declare"

  48. 1Jn 1:1 What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life-- 1Jn 1:2 and the life was manifested, and we have seen and testify and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us–1Jn 1:3 what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ. 1Jn 1:4 These things we write, so that our joy may be made complete.

  49. Psa 119:11 Your word I have treasured in my heart, That I may not sin against You. Psa 119:12 Blessed are You, O LORD; Teach me Your statutes. Psa 119:13 With my lips I have told of All the ordinances of Your mouth. Psa 119:14 I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, As much as in all riches. Psa 119:15 I will meditate on Your precepts And regard Your ways. Psa 119:16 I shall delight in Your statutes; I shall not forget Your word. Psa 119:17 g Gimel. Deal bountifully with Your servant, That I may live and keep Your word.

  50. 5. RepentRev 3:3 'So remember what you have received and heard; and keep it, and repent. Therefore if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come to you.
