  2. Perplex (verb) Perplexity (noun) Perplexed (adjective) • To cause confusion or puzzlement; confusion, puzzlement; to be confused or puzzled. • Math problems often perplex students. • You look perplexed. • The large book put the students into a state of perplexity.

  3. Reassure (verb) • To say or do something to remove the doubts and fears of someone. • My mother reassured me that there are no such things as vampires.

  4. Declivity (noun) • A descending slope • The cabin is precariously perched on a declivity of the mountain's northern face.

  5. Ensnare (verb) • To catch in a trap. • The rabbit was ensnared by the carrot and shoebox trick. • Parents sometimes try to ensnare their teenagers ina lie.

  6. Inquire (verb) • To ask for information from someone; to investigate further • I would like to inquire about the price of the car.

  7. Beseech (verb) • To ask (someone) urgently and fervently to do something; implore; entreat. • Teachers often beseech their students to do their homework!

  8. Obligation (noun) • An act or course of action to which a person is morally or legally bound; a duty or commitment. • I have an obligation to make sure you learn vocabulary.

  9. Mincing (verb) • Elegant in gait, manner, and speech; walking with short steps. • To chop, grind, or cut into very small pieces; to soften or moderate in order to be polite (Needs a direct object) • He saw a chicken go mincing by, so he ran after it. • I did not mince my words when he made me upset.

  10. Perturb (verb) • To make someone anxious or unsettled • It perturbs me when I go home and there are dirty dishes all over the place.

  11. Cantankerous (adjective) • Bad tempered, uncooperative, argumentative • The cantankerous old man yelled at everyone who crossed in front of his yard.
