LOSC • Defines the rights and responsibilities of the nations included in the united nations of their use of the worlds oceans. • Established guidelines in the consumtion of natural resources, buisness, and the environment • Implemented such things as baselines, Internal Waters, Territorial Sea, Continental Shelf, High Seas, The Area • Also made new agencies to overlook the Convention’s regulations such as: International Seabed Authority, The Assembly, and The Council.

Baseline- the boundary from which a nation may begin measurements to determine the portion of the adjacent oceans or continental shelf over which it may exercise sovereignty. • Internal Waters- Internal waters are those that are contained on the landward side of the baseline • Territorial Sea- sea that extends up to 12 nautical miles from the baselines. • Continental Shelf- real natural occurring baseline • High Seas- Waters Beyond any nations borders. They are patrolled by the UN.
