  1. PEOPLE´S KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE CLIMATE CHANGE

  2. In a survey we have done about climate change to a group of people around us, we have drawn the following conclusions: We all agree that climate change is the most important problem of the XXI century

  3. It is known about the effects and the phenomena attributed to climate change, about which gases cause it and about their consequences, but they are not aware of who is mainlyaffected.

  4. As for the Kyoto protocol people are not aware of which agreements were signed.

  5. People know they are influencing climate change, they can change their habits but many of them don’t change because they don’t know to what an extent they affect it.

  6. Everyone knows that the Canary Islands are being influenced by climate change but they do not know how this change will affect the islands.

  7. COPENHAGUEN SUMMIT AND SEVILLE MEETING

  8. At the climate summit held in December 2009 in Copenhagen governments discussed measures to tackle climate change and reduce gases GHG (Greenhouse Gas)These were the conclusions we draw:

  9. All countries agree that it is a global problem and the most important of this century. There was no global bindingagreement with any figures for cutting greenhouse gases. The pact was proposed by the U.S.A. and signed and ratified by the UE and other countries, with the opposition of Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia, Nicaragua and Sudan.

  10. It states that GHG emissions must touch roof as soon as possible. This will be achieved through voluntary redundancy plans that countries due in February 2010.The agreement does not clarify whether to extend Kyoto, or if there will be a new treaty or when.

  11. d Many heads of state and governments and environmental groups felt that nothing new came out of Copenhagen, that the signed treaty was not an ambitious or binding treaty. They know that it was at least a first step but they all were disappointed.
