Context Title I Focus Schools • 2012-2013 ESEA waiver created new Focus School classification • 119 schools identified statewide • Ten percent of Title I schools • Lowest performing subgroups • Significant gaps • Focus School Cohort will remain in support status for four years • Next cohort will be identified in 2015-2016

  5. Key Strategy: SEA OrganizationTitle I Priority and Focus Schools • Work groups at the SEA level established for Priority, SIG, and Focus Schools • Differentiated methods of support and monitoring across all schools • Required use of Indistar in Priority (SIG) and Focus Schools

  6. Title I Priority Schools Application Requirements • School Turnaround Model • Response to Intervention • Extended Learning Time • Professional Development • Increase Family Engagement • Positive and safe learning environments • Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports

Key Strategy: Provide SEA Support/MonitoringTitle I Focus Schools • SEA liaison assigned to each Focus School • Provide support/expertise in school improvement efforts • Serve as a point of contact in meeting SEA requirements through Indistar • Provide feedback and coaching comments Note: Milwaukee Public Schools receives ongoing support at LEA level
