  1. Classification of organisms • 3 Domains • Bacteria • Kingdom Eubacteria • Archaea • Kingdom Archaebacteria • Eukarya • Kingdom Protista • Kingdom Plantae • Kingdom Fungi • Kingdom Animalia

  2. 6 Kingdoms Overview

  3. Eubacteria: True bacteria Found most everywhere • Prokaryotic • Unicellular • Asexual reproduction • Heterotrophs: Decomposers OR Autotrophs : some do photosynthesis

  4. Examples: E.Coli, salmonella Bacteria

  5. Archaebacteria: Extreme environment • Prokaryotic • Unicellular • Asexual reproduction • Autotrophs ( use chemicals like methane to make food) and heterotrophs • Examples: heat loving ( hot springs), salt loving ( Dead sea)

  6. Archaebacteria

  7. Protista: • Eukaryotic • Unicellular OR multicellular • Asexual OR sexual reproduction • Autotrophs (Producers) Or Heterotrophs (Consumers) • Examples: paramecium, euglena, slime molds

  8. Protists

  9. Fungi: Stationary(non-motile) • Eukaryotic • Unicellular OR Multicellular • Asexual OR sexual • Heterotrophs: All decomposers • Examples: mushroom, mold, yeast

  10. Fungi

  11. Plantae: Non- motile • Eukaryotic • Multicellular • Asexual and Sexual reproduction • AUTOTROPHS: Photosynthesize!! • Examples: ferns, trees, moss etc

  12. Animalia: Motile • Eukaryotic • Multicellular • Asexual and Sexual Reproduction • Heterotrophs: Consumers • Examples: birds, jellyfish, sponges, insects, humans

  13. SUMMARIZER 1.Which kingdoms have only unicellular organisms? 2. Identify the kingdoms with multicellular organisms. 3. Fungi, Protists, Plants and Animals are eukaryotic. What does this mean? 3. What two kingdoms are made up only of prokaryotes? 4. Compare and contrast the following: Fungi and Protist Kingdoms.

  14. CORAL

  15. SPONGE

  16. Bread Mold

  17. AMEOBA

  18. Pine Cone

  19. Moth

  20. E. Coli
