  3. You can expect… • To work in class. • To learn all about English/Language Arts. • To be held accountable. • To have fun. • To participate. • To be respectful. Expectations for my Class

  4. I expect you… • To be quiet, especially when I am talking. • (This could pose as a challenge for some) • To follow my rules and procedures. • To be considerate to myself, others, and my classroom. • To try. • Stay in your seat. My Expectations for you!

  5. Respect and trustworthiness (I don’t cheat people.) Commitment to you and your education Fairness and consistency Work everyone is capable of completing 100% effort from me. I go the extra mile for you. What you can expect from me

  6. My Classroom Rules are Simple. • No talking. Period. • Do not leave your assigned seats for any reason, unless I instruct you otherwise. • Respect others and their belongings! Especially my desk. • Effort is required, laziness is not an option! My Class Rules

  7. There will be consequences • Verbal Warning. • Verbal Warning / Loss of participation points. • Loss of Participation Points / Phone call home. • Referral to the office / No points for the day. • You will be sent away. Break the Rules…

  8. The reason for procedures is so everything is very clear. We will follow these, if not we will practice them. If we refuse to obey, refer to consequences. Classroom Procedures!

  9. You will enter the classroom quietly, with all materials! (Pencil, Notebook, Books!) • You will immediately find your seat. • You will sit down, with all belongings underneath your desk. (That means nothing on your desk) • If you need to use the restroom or sharpen your pencil, you may do sobeforethe bell. (Withmy permission!) • You must be in your seat and working on your Bell Work beforethe bell rings. Entering my classroom:

  10. The bell will ring. • Don’t panic. • You will remain in your seat until I finish. • You will be dismissed by me. (Not the bell!) Leaving The Classroom:

Ask yourself at the beginning of class, “Do I need to go right now?” If the answer is yes, then go quickly, with my permission. • If you have to go during class, ask yourself “Is this an emergency?” • If it is, find a moment when I am not in the middle of lecturing, and then ask me. DO NOT INTERUPT ME, or the answer will be no. • If I say no, don’t freak out. Remain calm. When you need to use the restroom

If perchance on the rare occasion I allow you to whisper amongst yourselves, and I need your attention I will raise my hand silently. • You will stop talking. • You will also raise your hand. • The class will be quiet within 5 seconds and will not continue talking. 5. If you continue talking after the class has been quieted, please refer to the consequences. When I Need Your Attention

  13. Raise your hand. • Remain silent until I call upon you. • When I call your name, answer the question. Answering a question:

  14. Oh no, your pencil broke! It’s okay, don’t panic. • Ask yourself if we are currently using our pencils. (Well, are we?) • If we are and I am not talking to the class, quietly get up and sharpen it (one at a time). • If we are not using pencils at the moment, be patient until a time when we are using them. Wait until I am done instructing the class, then quietly sharpen it. * If you interrupt my class while sharpening your pencil, you will lose that right permanently. Sharpening your pencil

  15. Line up at my door. • Place yourselves in a single file line. (Not a blob!) • We will exit the classroom and remain in line down the hall. • We will walk quietly while in myhallways. Walking in the hall as a class

  16. Do not argue with me; trust me it’s not worth your time. • Listen and follow all of my directions. • Don’t complain about my class. (I don’t complain about you) • Don’t lie to me. If you lose my trust, it is very difficult to regain. • If you want to know your grade, check Edline! Don’t ask me. • If you ever have a concern, come ask me. Recommendations to make your experience in Mr. Cross’ class better:

  17. Work will be handed in on time. Work will be placed at the beginning of class into your period’s basket. I will grade it and get it back to you quickly. Handing in work
