  2. Questions • Holiday Presentation Task • Give a record of three training sessions you have completed. Include set targets and mention factors impacting on performance as well as thoughts and feelings on how successful each training session was • Give two examples of receiving different types of feedback from others. What did the feedback tell you about your performance • Evaluate how effective your training programme was • Identify and explain two future development needs. Provide evidence to support your answer

  4. Question 1 • 3 training sessions = describe and/or use diagram • Target to improve the physical factor of SKILLS AND TECHNIQUES, in specifically the ???? • Targets – long term target = how many successful serves in 2nd video; how many ticks in the video analysis sheet; have serve as a strength during your matches • Targets short term = how many repetitions and how many successful attempts did you aim for? • Review each session you planned – how did you feel it went?

  5. FEEDBACK Feedback is information that you receive on your performance. This can be received internally (how it feels, how it looks, how it sounds) or externally (by a coach, teacher or peer). This external feedback can be received in many forms. It could be written (checklist, questionnaire), verbal (spoken by a teacher, coach or peer) or visual (a video).

  6. Verbal – information given to you be a coach or teacher after a skill is performed. e.g. When I was dribbling in basketball my teacher told me that I was bouncing the ball too high and to try to keep it closer to my waist. Written – feedback that is written down by an observer for you to look at after a performance. e.g. In Swimming an observer watched me while I performed my front crawl. They had a sheet with technique points for the Preparation, Action and Recovery stages of the skill and they would tick whether I did that part of the skill correctly or whether it needed improvement.

  7. Video (Visual) – when you video your own performance and watch it back to see where your strengths and weaknesses are. e.g. In badminton I was videoed performing my overhead clear. When I watched the video I could see that I did not have my arm straight when I contacted the shuttle so in the next practices I focussed on getting my arm straight at the point of contact. Find out about the different ways in which you can get information on your performance and write as many as you can below.

  8. Question 2 - Feedback • What did the Feedback tell you? • “It told me I had to….keep my arm straight on the ball toss….toss ball higher…..that I had to…” • Look at your subroutines on the video analysis sheet – that can hep you with feedback if you are struggling to remember

  9. Question 3 – How Effective your training was • First look at your video – did you have more successful serves the second time? Quote how many – From ?? To ?? • Look at your video analysis sheet – how many more ticks are there? From ?? To ?? • Look at your self evaluation sheet (second one) – has your serve improved? Quote from ?? To ?? • What Impact did it have on your performance? – Quote score? Quote how successful you felt your serve was in the game? Higher first/second serves in? Quote how many? • Give your thoughts/feelings from final performance as evidence – “I felt it....”

Question 4 – Future Development Needs • You need to identify TWO development needs in Tennis you would work on in the future • Easiest is to pick two shots from your self evaluation sheet • You could pick fitness, agility, speed, power, emotional (control of emotions), mental (feeling of defeat before you even start), social (pressure of playing in front of peers) • Evidence for the last one to be self reflection after your performance – Give reasons or evidence you know this factor is a development need. Ie “I felt as though at one point I lost control of my emotions….I was getting angry/frustrated …..this caused me to…..”

  11. Holiday Task • Due in on the FIRST MONDAY back • You will present to someone in the class during the first week back • If needing video camera/school computer from school have your notes all ready so you can complete your presentation during the first week back. • Goodluck!
