Let’s Debate. There are many ways to conduct debates. Here is one way that gives all the students a chance to get involved... SPLIT your class into two halves (or divisions): Division 1 for the motion Division 2 against the motion.

  1. Let’s Debate There are many ways to conduct debates. Here is one way that gives all the students a chance to get involved... SPLIT your class into two halves (or divisions): Division 1 for the motion Division 2 against the motion.   SELECT four debaters and a chairperson to represent your division. Everyone else supports the debaters. WHAT'S UP

DO YOUR RESEARCH… GATHER information about the motion by reading, surfing the internet and talking to adults. - READ “Giving aid that people need” (What’s Up, Feb 2014 )  - BRAINSTORM within your division with a ROUND ROBIN. FOR THE ROUND ROBIN: • Agree on four key questions. Write each on a separate sheet of mahjong paper. • Form 4 groups. Each group should sit around one table. • Do 4 rounds of brainstorming using the 4 questions. WHAT'S UP

  4. THE MOTION: That it is always better to give cash than to give donations in kind to survivors of disasters. Examples OF Round Robin questionS: QUESTION 2 Disadvantages of giving cash?
