  3. AIM OF THE WORKSHOP To assist Governments in the process of preparing for the audit under the IMO Member State Audit Scheme (IMSAS)

  4. OBJECTIVE OF THE WORKSHOP To provide participants with advice on the structure and mechanism necessary for enhancing the capacity and effectiveness of implementation of the provisions of the mandatory IMO instruments and the III Code, with a view to assisting maritime administrations in the effective preparation for audit under the Scheme.

  5. INTRODUCTION GENERAL WORKSHOP INFORMATION • DURATION: FIVE DAYS • TIMES: 09:00 to 17:00 HOURS EACH DAY • ATTENDANCE: COMPULSORY

  6. INTRODUCTION ENTRY LEVEL • PARTICIPANTS SHOULD: • HAVE A BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF HOW A MARITIME ADMINISTRATION FUNCTIONS • BE FAMILIAR WITH MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS OF RELEVANT IMO INSTRUMENTS • BE PROFICIENT IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE

  7. COURSE CONTENTS • LECTURES: TO COVER TOPICS OF MAIN SUBJECT AREAS • EXERCISES – INDIVIDUAL ACTIVITIES • WORKSHOPS – GROUP ACTIVITIES

CONCLUSION MAIN SUBJECT AREAS • KNOWLEDGE OF: • Resolution A.1070(28) – III Code • Resolution A.1067(28) –Framework and Procedures for the IMO Member State Audit Scheme • General, flag, coastal and port State obligations of a State • Preparation of a corrective action plan • REVIEW OF: • Preparation for the audit, including pre-audit questionnaire • Findings and Reporting of an Audit

  9. OUTCOME OF THE WORKSHOP At the end of the Workshop EACH MEMBER STATE WILL PREPARE ITSELF EFFECTIVELY FOR AUDIT UNDER IMSAS
