  16. 3:8 Now some of the priests of Babylon came forward bringing charges against the Jews. 9 They said to Nebuchadnezzar the king, “O king, live forever! 10 You, O king, have decreed that everyone who hears the sound of the music is to fall down and worship the golden image. 11 But whoever does not shall be cast into the blazing furnace.

  17. 3:12 Certain Jews you appointed to administrate Babylon —Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego have disregarded the order and will not serve your gods or worship the golden image you set up.

  18. 3:13 Nebuchadnezzar was enraged and gave orders to bring Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego to him. 14 The king said to them, “Is it true that you do not serve my gods or worship the golden image I set up?” 15 Even now when you hear the sound of the music, fall down and worship the image I made. And if you do not, you will immediately be cast into the furnace of blazing fire; and what god is there who can deliver you out of my hands?”

  19. 3:16 Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego replied to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to explain ourselves to you. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace our God whom we serve is able to deliver us; and he will save us from your hand, O king. 18 But even if he does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we are not going to serve your gods or worship the golden image you set up.”

  20. 3:19 Then Nebuchadnezzar was filled with wrath and his facial expression became distorted. He gave orders to heat the furnace seven times more than it is usually heated. 20 Then he commanded them to be thrown into the furnace.

  21. 3:24 Later the king was astonished and stood up hastily, “Was it not three men we cast into the fire?” “Certainly O king,” they replied. 25 “Look! I see four men loosed and walking in the midst of the fire without harm. The fourth looks like a son of the gods!” 26 Then Nebuchadnezzar came near the door of the furnace and said, “Come out, you servants of the Most High God.” Then Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego came out from the fire.

  22. 3:27 The government officials gathered around and saw that the fire had no effect on their bodies. Their hair was not singed or their pants damaged. They did not even smell like smoke. 28 Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego, who sent his angel to deliver these servants who trusted in him, violating the king’s command. He has saved them so as not to serve or worship any god except theirs.”

  23. 3:29 Therefore I decree that any people, nation or tongue that speaks anything offensive against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego shall be torn limb from limb and their houses reduced to rubbish, inasmuch as there is no other god who is able to deliver in this way.” 30 Then the king prospered Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego in the province of Babylon.

  24. 3:16 Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego replied to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to explain ourselves to you. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace our God whom we serve is able to deliver us; and he will save us from your hand, O king. 18 But even if he does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we are not going to serve your gods or worship the golden image you set up.”

  25. 3:16 Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego replied to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to explain ourselves to you. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace our God whom we serve is able to deliver us; and he will save us from your hand, O king. 18 But even if he does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we are not going to serve your gods or worship the golden image you set up.” Decision Time

  26. 3:16 Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego replied to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to explain ourselves to you. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace our God whom we serve is able to deliver us; and he will save us from your hand, O king. 18 But even if he does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we are not going to serve your gods or worship the golden image you set up.” Decision Time • integrity

  32. God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” 2 Corinthians 519,20 3:16 Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego replied to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to explain ourselves to you. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace our God whom we serve is able to deliver us; and he will save us from your hand, O king. 18 But even if he does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we are not going to serve your gods or worship the golden image you set up.” Decision Time • integrity act on principle, not potential consequence refuse rationalizations • do it but don’t mean it • compartmentalize • don’t add to the offense or diminish it
