  2. Consuls The Senate meeting with the Consuls. • At the start of the empire Rome was governed by two men, they were called Consuls. • They were helped in making there decisions by the “Senate”.

  3. Prefects & Tribunes • Prefects were the all rounder’s, they did the grunt work for the senate, some heard court cases and others ran markets. • Tribunes were the MichealDavitt of the past they stood up for the poorer people in the Senate and were a major political voice in those times.

  4. Governors These men took control of a conquered area & were in control of the army garrisons in the area.

  5. 27 B.C. Around 27 B.C Roman politics started taking a turn.

  6. A change • In 27 B.C. Rome was no longer controlled by a Senate or a Consul. • The Empire was now ruled by the army’s generals although this was not recognised.

  7. Augustus • At the time a man named Augustus was in charge of the Roman army. • He came up with a plan that would keep him in power but it would look like he was helping the poor. He decided that he would use the army to gain control of the senate and make himself Emperor !!!

  10. The people of Rome In Rome they had some “issues”. Overpopulation and thieves are just a few of them.

  11. Children • In Rome your life depended on where you were born and who you were born to.

  12. Timeline 0- Birth . 5-School. 10-Finished school. 15-Married (if a girl) Army if a Boy. 20- Child (girl) Army (boy) Business (boy). 30-Child (again) Army (possibly) Moved to a new home. 40-New home with wife and kids. (farm, shop, pub etc). 50 to death-Settled down with kids and land.

  13. Overpopulation • In Rome they didn't have strict enough rules & regulations on entrance to Rome.

  14. Thieves The low-life. Easy access to the city & rich districts.
